The second week at host Massimo in Tufara Valle was also very nice and pretty diverse, I had lot’s of time for relaxing, helped with another tour in Napoli this time just 2 Dutch women which was pretty fun, did some gardening, made an onion grow bed and did some more painting.

Finally got my good GoPro rip off action camera, although it was a bit troublesome since SOMEONE put the wrong address on the package………. Luckily Massimo made some calls and had a friend of his who lives close to the post depot go and pick it up :D which I am very grateful for.

Hi I’m Levi a Wandering Dutch Guy on a quest to explore the world, meet new people and have great adventures. Armed with a camera I am currently traveling through Europe on my noble steed Bianchi Spillo bicycle, HelpX volunteering and relying on the hospitality of strangers along the way. Trying to keep traveling as long as I possibly can, earning extra cash with Web and Graphic design or any other job I can find.

Mid 2015 I quit everything back in The Netherlands, I quit my job, my rented apartment, all the utilities etc. hopped on my fully packed bike and started my journey southwards.

I Had many flats, several issues with the bike (at that time a second hand MTB, Betsy), got lost more than I would like to count, ditched Betsy and bought Farfegnugel (brand new kickass MTB) conquered a 2000m mountain pass, had my bike stolen :(, bought my 3rd bike of the trip, slept on a beach, worked on a farm, met many wonderful people and much much more.

Why travel by bicycle?

In 2014 I walked El camino de Santiago (A 900km hiking/pilgrim route in the north of Spain) and there I realized the magnificence of traveling on your own strength and that it really is possible to go anywhere you want in such a way, it is just a matter of time.

After the Camino I had a bad case of wanderlust again, although I get it after every trip, so I started thinking about the next possible adventure and came up with the idea to explore Europe by bike.

And it’s really wonderful to travel by bike, you go fast enough to cover some good distances without getting bored with the scenery and slow enough to stop for a chat or just a nice break to smell the roses and enjoy the beautiful area you might find yourself in, you have the freedom to do and go as you please, want to see what’s on top of that hill/mountain…… have a look……..feeling tired and want to spend a day chilling at the beach…….. no one’s gonna stop you and ofcourse let’s not forget you stay in great shape even while binge eating anything you want :D

The time had come to leave the farm and get back on the road again, which filled me with Excitement a little anxiety and a little sadness. Excited to get adventurous again, the little anxiety about all the things that could possibly go wrong and the little sadness to say goodbye to such great people whom I will miss.

RideAround at farm14

The last 2 weeks at the farm have floated past and to be honest, were not very eventful ^^ But the weather has taken a turn for the better and except for 1 rainy day I’ve had to suffer temperatures of around 20 – 25C, uffff what can life be hard :P
